Out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is the biggest killer in the country.  Around 60,000 occur annually, of which the Ambulance Services attempt to resuscitate 28,000. Across England, only 8.6% of these attempts to resuscitate results in the patient surviving to discharge from hospital - that’s 4% of all OHCA.

The CardiacSmart team of North West Ambulance Service promotes the hosting and use of AED's and training in CPR across North West communities and in all public places.  To see more about the work we do, please take a look at the CardiacSmart web site, our CardiacSmart YouTube channel and follow us on Twitter @CardiacSmart
