CS Event June 2013

St Edmund and Arrowsmith CFLThe Trust held its second CardiacSmart event on 18 June 2013, to recognise those who have made outstanding contributions to raising awareness and promoting heart health across the North West.

The CardiacSmart initiative, born from the Chain of Survival Partnership in conjunction with the British Heart Foundation (BHF), aims to extend the coverage of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) within local communities across the North West; as well as training individuals in basic life support skills.

The Trust was joined by Gail Sargerson, British Heart Foundation Area Development Manager for the North West who spoke of the importance of heart health before handing over to Sara Harris, County Co-ordinator, Chain of Survival, and Mary Whyham, NWAS Chairman to present the awards.

Guests included, Cllr Norman Bailey, Mayor of Grange-over-Sands as well as two cardiac arrest survivors, whose life savers were recongised with awards.

Bailie and his dadThe Trust, also took the opportunity to present the very first recipients of its Life Saver Award - which recognises members of the public who have made outstanding efforts to save the life of a person suffering a cardiac arrest.
